drug crimes. Punishments for felonies in the state of Ohio range from one year in prison to the death penalty. Ohio Revised Code § 2929.14 explains the maximum prison sentences possible for the various degrees:
- First degree: 3 to 11 years
- Second degree: 2 to 8 years
- Third degree: 9 to 36 months for most third degree offenses, with some exceptions
- Fourth degree: 6 to 18 months
- Fifth degree: 6 to 12 months
